the making of harry potter. Warner bros. studio tour, tokyo

For the opening of The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour in Tokyo, Studio MinaLima was
commissioned to collaborate with Lumsden Design to create a fully immersive retail and
food and beverage experience.

The centre piece for this space is the enormous cosplay dome, featuring all 8 films. We collaborated to create direction for all sculptural and map projected elements.

We reimagined the graphic language for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour retail experience, designing a fresh new style guide for the area, including two completely bespoke typefaces
with rules for their usage in signage, way finding and point of sale display.

We created branding for all the themed restaurants within the tour by reworking existing IP in a contemporary but celebratory way. For each food and beverage area we delivered logos and style guides. Here the bespoke typefaces demonstrated their adaptability as we added unique adjustments to reflect the individual identities. Each restaurant also features an original world building set piece designed by us to further immerse and engage the guests.

As the original graphic designers of the films, Studio MinaLima were dedicated to contributing graphic props that recreated the renowned sets within the tour. Hand crafted and using original prop making methods, we faithfully reproduced an array of wizarding items beloved by the fans.

As a homage to Miraphora and Eduardo’s work within the franchise, the Studio Tour features a long corridor dedicated to displaying the graphic art. Larger than life Harry Potter graphics line the walls, decorated with cabinets displaying original props.

The retail space features one of our very own House of MinaLima stores.
